What should be done if I think my student-athlete may have suffered a concussion?
Should your athlete sustain ANY injury to the head or neck, and after he/she is medically stable, contact this office for consultation and follow up assessment
If your athlete has taken the ImPACT Test then your student-athlete’s pre-injury, baseline test profile will be compared to post-injury test profiles so that the brain’s "healing" and recovery can be followed, and informed "return to play" decisions can be made. Indeed, follow-up computerized testing is of great importance because it detects even subtle neuro cogntive deficits that often exist even when the student athlete no longer reports concussion symptoms. Continuing to play sports when these deficits remain puts the student athlete at risk for serious neuropsychological outcomes.
